In THE HEALING JOURNEY we’re exploring the unique health challenges women face and how Christ meets us in every season with compassion, strength, and restoring love. Join me on the 3rd Friday of each month in 2026 as we walk together toward greater wholeness in body, mind, and spirit — one gentle step at a time.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:12
When Healing Takes Longer Than Expected
Many women walk through long seasons of illness — autoimmune disorders, chronic inflammation, flare-ups, fatigue, pain, or conditions that come and go without clear answers.
You may look healthy on the outside but feel exhausted on the inside.
You might have lived through years of symptoms, tests, appointments, confusion, or discouraging results.
You may have moments of progress followed by setbacks you didn’t see coming.
Autoimmune and chronic conditions don’t follow predictable timelines.
They can be frustrating… discouraging… emotionally draining.
And they often leave women wondering:
“Why is this taking so long?”
“Why does it feel like my body is fighting against me?”
“Is God still working?”
Your questions are valid.
Your fatigue is understood.
And your journey is seen by God.
God Is Not Delayed in Your Healing
Long-haul illness can feel like silence — like prayers are going unanswered or progress is too slow to matter.
But God’s timing is not tied to symptoms, test results, or flare-ups.
He is working in ways you cannot see:
-
- strengthening you in endurance
- deepening your dependence on Him
- building compassion within you
- protecting you from unseen harm
- guiding you toward the right care
- shaping your faith with gentleness
God is not late.
God is not absent.
God is not overlooking you.
He is walking with you — slowly, faithfully, lovingly — through every high and low.
You Are Not Imagining What You Feel
Many women with autoimmune or chronic conditions experience:
-
- doctors who dismiss their pain
- people who don’t understand
- friends who say, “But you look fine!”
- guilt for needing rest
- frustration when symptoms return
- fear that things will get worse
- exhaustion from trying to explain
Hear me clearly:
You are not exaggerating.
You are not weak.
You are not alone.
Your battle is real.
Your pain is real.
Your endurance is remarkable.
And Jesus understands suffering in ways no one else can.
Your Body Is Trying to Heal — Not Attack You
Autoimmune conditions can feel like betrayal — like the body is turning against itself.
But your body is not attacking you.
It is confused.
It is overwhelmed.
It is responding to inflammation, stressors, triggers, or imbalances you didn’t choose.
Your body is trying to protect you, not punish you.
And God cares about the biology behind your condition just as much as He cares about your emotions, fears, and daily struggles.
You are not at war with yourself.
You are learning how to live gently with a body that needs extra support.
The Courage of Small Steps
Progress often happens in slow, faithful steps:
-
- adjusting nutrition
- reducing inflammation
- improving sleep
- supporting hormones
- setting boundaries
- pacing your energy
- seeking wise medical care
- giving your body time
- resting without guilt
Some days all you can do is breathe and let God carry you.
That is enough.
Romans 12:12 calls you to:
Hope — even when healing feels far away.
Patience — even when symptoms linger.
Prayer — even when answers are slow.
These three together form a lifeline when the journey is long.
Purpose in the Long-Haul
Autoimmune and chronic struggles don’t define you — but they do shape you.
Through them, God may be cultivating:
-
- deeper empathy
- softer compassion
- stronger boundaries
- wiser choices
- spiritual maturity
- unwavering faith
- resilience you didn’t know you had
Your story is not one of defeat.
It is a story of perseverance, courage, and grace.
And God promises that your suffering is never wasted.
A Soft Closing Prayer
Jesus, You see the parts of my body that feel weak, confused, inflamed, or overwhelmed.
Give me strength for the days that feel heavy and endurance for the long road of healing.
Guide my steps, steady my emotions, and remind me that You are working even when progress is slow.
Fill my heart with hope, patience, and quiet trust as I walk this journey with You. Amen.
