MY VICTORY VERSES || Rejoicing in the Hope of God’s Glory

In MY VICTORY VERSES, we will explore key Bible verses that have shaped my life recovery journey since 2005. After sharing how these verses impacted me, we will dive into their meaning and how they bring lasting victory. This column publishes on the 3rd Friday of each month in 2025.

We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. — Romans 5:2 (HCSB)

There is a spiritual progression tucked inside this powerful verse — a pathway that moves us from inner longing to outer manifestation, from unseen faith to visible glory.

A Simple, Life-Changing Sequence

Many years ago, during a challenging season, I prayerfully captured this truth in a visual way that has remained meaningful to me ever since. It’s based on this sequence from Romans 5:2:

  • Grace gives us access to stand before God without shame or striving.
  • Faith activates that grace, empowering us to believe beyond what we can see.
  • Hope begins to form an inner picture — a vision in line with God’s Word.
  • And glory is the visible result: the manifestation of God’s goodness in our lives.

Put simply:
Grace → Hope → Faith → Glory.

God’s grace supplies the favor.
Hope forms the image.
Faith gives it substance.
Glory brings it into reality.

This is not wishful thinking — it’s a process of spiritual alignment. When we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory, we are standing in the confident expectation that His goodness will be revealed. Not always in the way we imagined, and rarely on our timetable, but always in His perfect love.

Rejoicing Even in the Waiting

Standing in grace doesn’t mean everything is resolved. Often, it means learning to rejoice while we wait — to worship even when the answer hasn’t come yet.

Hope anchors us.
Faith moves us.
Grace holds us steady.
And glory, though not yet seen, is on the way.

Sometimes that kind of trust feels bold and confident — other times, it feels like the simple act of getting up, lifting our hands, and saying, “I believe You, Lord… still.”

This empowering anthem by Danny Gokey reminds us that even in uncertainty, we can still choose to stand in faith — because God is still working.

MY VICTORY VERSES || The Unforced Rhythms of Grace

In MY VICTORY VERSES, we will explore key Bible verses that have shaped my life recovery journey since 2005. After sharing how these verses impacted me, we will dive into their meaning and how they bring lasting victory. This column publishes on the 3rd Friday of each month in 2025.Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. ~ Matthew 11:28–30 (The Message)

Some Bible verses seem to breathe. These exhale peace with every word.

In the hustle of daily life, in the heaviness of expectations—whether others’ or our own—Jesus speaks directly to our soul fatigue. “Come to me.” That’s the invitation. Not to perform. Not to push. But to be with Him.

This passage from The Message speaks so tenderly to the weary and the overwhelmed. Maybe that’s why it’s resonated so deeply with me during this season of navigating health flare-ups, unpredictable emotions, and trying to do everything “right.” But Jesus doesn’t ask for perfection. He offers presence. He says: “Walk with Me… learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”

What are these rhythms? They are not the demands of religion or the rigid beat of hustle culture.

They’re the sacred tempo of divine grace. Gentle. Unhurried. Loving.

Jesus doesn’t promise a life without burdens—but He does promise that He won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on us. That phrase alone has comforted me in the moments I’ve tried to wear roles or expectations that were never mine to carry.

🌿 Victory Reflection
Victory doesn’t always look like conquering. Sometimes, it looks like releasing. Like choosing rest over relentless striving. Like trusting that Jesus can carry what you were never meant to bear alone.

This month, I’m learning to listen for grace’s rhythm—to slow down, breathe deeply, and let Jesus set the pace. Because walking with Him brings not just peace, but purpose.

📝 Reflection Questions

    • What is one burden I can surrender to Jesus today?
    • How is He inviting me into a gentler rhythm?
    • Where can I choose rest instead of striving?

🙏 A Gentle Prayer
Lord, I lay down my striving and my need to know all the answers. Teach me the unforced rhythms of grace. Help me walk with You, at Your pace, and in Your peace. When my mind spirals into worry, gently lead me back into Your arms. I trust that You’re working even when I cannot see. I choose today to rest in You, and to live freely and lightly. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

🎵 Worship Pause: Find Rest (Matthew 11)
Sometimes, the best way to receive God’s truth is to listen. This beautiful lyric video—“Find Rest (Matthew 11)”—brings Jesus’ words to life with music that gently invites your soul to exhale. As you press play, let this be a sacred pause in your day. Lay down the burdens you’ve been carrying. Close your eyes, breathe deep, and let the unforced rhythms of grace wash over you.
